The Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Department will be hosting a seminar featuring William H. Walton, P.E., S.E., F.ASCE, Senior Vice President and Group Practice Leader for GEI Consultants for Midwest USA. The topic of the seminar will be Design and Construction of Deep Foundations in Chicago.

Tall buildings in Chicago are supported on deep foundations. The selections of the type of foundations are primarily based on the loading, subsurface conditions and the availability of qualified contractors. The philosophy of design and construction of these foundations will be presented.
