Join the Department of Food Science and Nutrition for this seminar series event featuring Patrick Keeling, a professor in the Department of Botany at the University of British Columbia.

Our view of the functional relationship between hosts and their symbionts is heavily biased by interpreting them in a light that is too strictly mutualistic and adaptationist. In this seminar, alternative views of symbiosis based on conflict and neutral evolution will be discussed as they apply to both intracellular endosymbionts and microbiomes of a large diversity of animals.
