Join the Department of Social Sciences for this Great Problems, Great Minds seminar series event featuring guest speaker Xinyue Ye, an associate professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning at Texas A&M University, where he directs the Urban Data Science Lab.

Many efforts have been made to analyze spatial patterns and geographical dynamics in order to improve human wellbeing. Advances in spatiotemporal data are allowing individuals’ behavior in space and time to be modeled, with the results of such models informing trends across spatial scales. Spatial inequality can also be examined through the perspective of human dynamics at a finer scale, using social media data and movement data to inform knowledge and action on urban sustainability. Ye will share case studies illustrating human-centered urban informatics in the big and new data context.
