Associate Professor of Digital Humanities and Media Studies Carly Kocurek has successfully crowdfunded the creation of Save Point, a full-color, 24-page zine about video game history, on Kickstarter. The project was named one of Kickstarter's "Projects We Love" and has exceeded its initial fundraising goal of $1,200. The fundraising campaign will run through May 20, 2019.

All funds raised will go toward aspects of production including printing, binding, shipping, copy editing, image editing and processing, writing, and drawing, with production goals for subsequent issues outlined in the event that larger sums are raised.

Kocurek writes that video games are an important part of our culture, but have a relatively short history, and that historians writing on video game history often tend to publish their work in journals not widely accessed by the general public. Distribution of the zine will help share video game history with a broader audience.
