First-year Silvia Nunez lands Success Over Stress summer research assistantship

Date

First-year psychology student Silvia Nunez will work as a research assistant for DePaul University’s Success Over Stress project this summer.

Success Over Stress focuses on better equipping minority teens entering their first year of high school with skills related to coping with stress and time management, etc., to increase academic performance. For 16 weeks, Silvia will work with students from underfunded, low-performing schools, such as Dunbar High School on Chicago’s south side. The participating students will have their academic performance tracked throughout the academic year to gauge their well-being and academic stresses and successes.

Silvia is also one of five top finalists for the Anhelo Dream Scholarship and will receive $2,000 toward her tuition. The Anhelo Project is a non-for-profit organization that consists of a group of student leaders and professionals from various educational institutions and community-based organizations in Chicago. The scholarship is awarded to deserving undergraduate students who demonstrate leadership, academic competitiveness, community involvement, and financial need.

Congratulations Silvia!
