Armour College of Engineering Students are invited to take part in the Future Technologies for Water (FTW) sponsored by the Takata Corporation.

The aim of the competition is to develop breakthrough technologies for safe water that have a sustainable business plan and can be applied on a wide-scale. Entries should relate to the following themes: shortening the water cycle by looking at grey water and/or wastewater reuse, rapid testing of water samples with an emphasis on in situ, online testing, and protecting vulnerable and sensitive populations.

To enter the contest, first make sure you are eligible. Teams must submit applications by July 31, 2014 to be entered into the contest. On September 15, 2014, a group of 15 semifinalists will be announced. Three finalists will be chosen by September 30, 2014 based upon presentations and interviews via Skype. Finally, from October 13-17, 2014, the three finalists will travel to University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (travel expenses covered by the competition) for in-person presentations to the panel of judges. The judges will then decide on a winner.

The winner of the competition will receive $15,000 and the second place winner will receive $5,000 to further develop their ideas or companies.
