Hamid Arastoopour Named Recipient of 2015 AIChE Particle Technology Forum Thomas Baron Award in Fluid-Particle Systems

Date

Hamid Arastoopour, Henry R. Linden Professor of Engineering and WISER director, has been named by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Particle Technology Forum (PTF) as recipient of the 2015 Thomas Baron Award in Fluid-Particle Systems.

The award recognizes an individual’s scientific/technical accomplishment that has made a significant impact in the field of fluid particle systems or in a related field with potential for cross fertilization. The award citation honors Arastoopour as “a pioneer in the development of the theory and mathematical model for flow of multi-sized particles with varying particle properties distribution and the required CFD/PBE model and FCMOM (finite-sized domain method of moments) numerical technique.”

As the 2015 Thomas Baron awardee, Prof. Arastoopour will deliver a Plenary Lecture titled “CFD Simulation of Gas-Solid Flows: Poly-Dispersed Systems” at the AIChE Annual Meeting PTF Award Session on Nov. 10 in Salt Lake City.
