Ron Hochsprung (CS '72) and his wife Lynda Bowlin have donated $100,000 to establish the Hochsprung Scholarship in Computer Science ($75,000) and the Computer Science Students' Fund ($25,000). In addition to earning his bachelor's degree at IIT, Hochsprung was also systems manager for the IIT Computer Center and taught computer science as an instructor.

Hochsprung left IIT for California in 1978 and eventually joined Apple, where he has worked for over thirty years, on everything from the original Macintosh computer to the new Thunderbolt high-speed I/O technology.

Now an Apple Distinguished Engineer, Hochsprung returned to IIT in October 2011 to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of the computer science department.
