Humanities alumna returns for 50th reunion

Date

Humanities alumna Margaret Cekis recently returned to Illinois Tech to attend Homecoming and celebrate her 50th reunion since graduating from the university in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science in Scientific Writing. The Georgia resident was honored at a Golden Society Luncheon. She had a very positive experience at Illinois Tech and continues to follow its growth, but hadn’t been back to campus in more than 25 years.

Margaret said she fondly remembers Albert Brouse, who was the director of the scientific writing lab during her time as a student. She has gone on to hold many writing positions throughout her career, including one as a software manual editor for Scientific Atlanta, and a position at the Gas Institute. She continues to take contract writing jobs, calling herself semi-retired.

Margaret was joined at the 50th reunion by her husband George, who took classes in chemistry at Illinois Tech. The two live in a suburb north of Atlanta and have two adult daughters.
