Illinois Institute of Technology invites applications from an internal candidate for the position of  Chair of the Department of Humanities in IIT’s College of Human Sciences. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in an area appropriate to the Humanities Department and hold a faculty rank of Associate or Full Professor in the department. The appointment will begin August 1, 2015. The term is typically for five years, but shorter appointments for two or three years will also be considered. As the home of humanities research and teaching in an institute of technology, the Humanities Department holds a special role in the education of all of IIT’s students. In addition to a wide range of offerings in the undergraduate core curriculum, the department offers BS degrees with specializations in digital humanities, art and architectural history, communication, history, journalism, language and linguistics, literature, and philosophy. BS, MS and PhD degrees are also offered in technical communication. IIT has strong programs in architecture, business, computer science, design, engineering, law, mathematics, math and science education, psychology, and the natural sciences, providing many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
