IIT Hosts WiMAX Day on March 28

WiMAX is coming to Chicago and on Friday, March 28, Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) will host an event offering attendees a chance to learn about the opportunities and challenges that mobile broadband wireless networks present, see demonstrations of WiMAX capabilities as implemented on the IIT campus, as well as the opportunity to connect with WiMAX leaders, influencers and decision makers.

WiMAX, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, is expected to be a critical and integral part of the broadband wireless network of the future that will enhance our quality of life, productivity, education, and economic growth. Wireless provides ease of deployment and mobility, while the Internet provides a data pipe with an ever-increasing data bandwidth. WiMAX provides a union of broadband and wireless to deliver last-mile connectivity to Chicago.

The WiMAX event at IIT brings Chicago and other markets' business executives, leaders of organizations, managers of technology, and educators together to learn about the future of communications, the infrastructure and components necessary for WiMAX and its interoperability with existing networks including WiFi, and ,most importantly, the services and benefits available through this technology helping businesses and companies reach strategic communication goals.

IIT is also offering professional WiMAX courses to executives, leaders and influencers associated with applications, marketing, infrastructure and services related to broadband wireless technology and their key technical staff managers. The conference and courses are offered by IIT’s Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department and the IIT Office of Technical Services.
