Most Recent University Communication (January 9, 2023)
Dear Fellow Community Members,
As the new semester begins, I wanted to remind you of the university’s COVID-19 policies. Our policies remain unchanged since the beginning of the 2022–23 academic year.
If you have any questions about the university’s policies or if you would like more information about them, please visit www.iit.edu/reopening.
All faculty, staff, and students must receive a COVID-19 vaccination and booster. For international students and faculty, these World Health Organization-approved vaccines will be accepted on campus if you have received all required doses for booster status.
- Faculty and staff who have not previously shared proof of vaccination should submit their proof of vaccination via this Google form.
- Students who have not previously shared proof of vaccination should submit their proof of vaccination via this online form.
Additionally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the State of Illinois, and the City of Chicago can provide assistance in finding a location to receive a vaccination. If you have any questions about the COVID-19 vaccines, please visit the CDC’s vaccines page.
Face Coverings Are Optional
On August 11, 2022, the CDC updated its COVID-19 guidance. In keeping with health guidance from the CDC, the university does not require face coverings indoors or outdoors. Of course, campus community members are welcome and encouraged to continue wearing face coverings if they prefer to do so.
As always, the university will continue to follow applicable federal, state, and city public health guidelines, and we anticipate reinstating masking requirements in the event that the CDC designates Cook County in the “high” COVID-19 community level category and a mask mandate is issued. The CDC’s current COVID-19 community levels can be found on its website.
Testing, Reporting, and Isolating
The university follows CDC guidance for testing, reporting, and isolation in the event that you test positive or have a close contact test positive for COVID-19. Please visit the CDC website to learn more about what steps to follow in the event of a positive test.
All members of the Illinois Tech community should notify, as provided for below, the university if they are diagnosed with COVID-19.
Faculty and Staff
Faculty and staff who test positive for COVID-19 must notify the Office of Human Resources at 312.567.3318 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you for all that you do to continue to support the health and safety of your fellow Illinois Tech community members.

Vice President for Human Resources and Talent Development
