Chicago, June 24, 2013 — IIT Stuart School of Business has ranked among the world’s best programs in the 2013 global ranking of pre-experience master’s programs in finance, published today by Financial Times. IIT Stuart’s Master of Science in Finance degree program is ranked 26th globally, 3rd in the United States, and the only ranked program in the Midwest.

The Financial Times Global Masters in Finance 2013 rankings are based on surveys of alumni who graduated three years previously, as well as data from the ranked schools.

“The Finance program at IIT Stuart is truly distinctive, and I am proud to see public recognition of our program’s success in this ranking,” said IIT Stuart Dean Harvey Kahalas. “Our program offers a strong quantitative foundation, a focus on analytical and technological skill development, and a host of co-curricular activities including competitions, industry events, and alumni networking opportunities. This approach gives our graduates a strategically competitive edge and prepares them to succeed in the next economy.”

The M.S. Finance degree program is the largest graduate program within IIT Stuart. The program is based upon a solid foundation in financial mathematics, statistics, and modeling. Core courses cover basic principles of valuation, portfolio management, and financial statement analysis. The program offers a wide range of elective concentrations that are specifically related to careers in the financial services industry, including financial engineering, high frequency finance, entrepreneurial finance, and risk management, among several other concentrations.

In addition to the M.S. Finance degree, IIT Stuart’s M.B.A. and Ph.D. programs offer concentrations in finance, and non-degree certificate programs cover the fundamentals and key tools of finance. A variety of post-graduate certificates in finance are designed to complement existing graduate degrees in business with a deeper knowledge of industry-specific financial topics.

IIT Stuart is located in Chicago, which is home of the world’s largest markets in financial derivatives, along with a vibrant financial services industry that includes commercial and investment banks, investment management companies, hedge funds, private equity and regulatory agencies. IIT Stuart students engage with Chicago’s financial community through internships, co-ops, industry competitions, and networking events.
