IIT Stuart School of Business Maintains AACSB International Business Accreditation

Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Stuart School of Business' accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) has been renewed, the association recently announced, reflecting the school's continued commitment to excellence in business education. Founded in 1916, AACSB International is the longest serving global accrediting body for business schools that offer undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees in business and accounting.

Only 567 schools of business, or less than 5% worldwide, have earned this distinguished hallmark of excellence in business education. To maintain accreditation, a business program must undergo a rigorous internal review every five years, at which the program must demonstrate its continued commitment to the 21 quality standards relating to faculty qualification, strategic management of resources, interactions of faculty and students, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.

"It takes a great deal of self-evaluation and determination to earn and maintain AACSB accreditation," said Jerry Trapnell, chief accreditation officer of AACSB International. "Schools not only must meet specific standards of excellence, but their deans, faculty, and staff must make a commitment to ongoing improvement to ensure continued delivery of high-quality education to students."

IIT Stuart School of Business offers intellectually rigorous business education at all levels, from baccalaureate to doctoral. All programs emphasize real world application and prepare graduates to compete both in today's economy and in the next economy. IIT Stuart focuses on the concept of strategic competitiveness, with an emphasis on developing students skilled in thinking differently. To achieve this, IIT Stuart students develop creativity, innovativeness, an entrepreneurial mindset, incisive decision-making skills, leadership competencies and an understanding of sustainability through coursework and related professional development opportunities.

"It is a great honor that AACSB has continued to recognize the standard of excellence in our business programs," said IIT Stuart School of Business Dean Harvey Kahalas. "It is with pride that we announce this accomplishment, as it demonstrates our continued commitment to the highest standards in business education.

IIT Stuart's achievement will be recognized at the AACSB International Conference and Annual Meeting on April 26 -28, 2009, in Orlando, Florida.
