Domenica Pappas, Illinois Institute of Technology’s associate vice provost for research, has won Cayuse’s 2022 Sheri Pulis Award for her outstanding service and dedication to the research community. Cayuse builds and maintains a cloud-based research platform and other technical solutions for hundreds of organizations.

Pappas has been at the university for nearly 24 years, many of those spent working for the Office of Sponsored Research and Programs, which she directed from 2004 to 2019. She assumed her current role as associate vice provost in 2021.

Cayuse’s customers and employees nominate research administrators who work at their customer institutions for the award, based on a “demonstrated service to the research community, significant contributions to their institution’s research program,” among other factors, according to its website. Cayuse says that more than 650 organizations use its platform.

The award was named after Sheri Pulis, a Cengage customer and analyst at University of California, Davis, who passed away in 2019, the inaugural year of the award.
