Illinois Tech IEEE Student Branch and Adviser Awarded for Outstanding Service

Illinois Institute of Technology’s Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) student branch has received the 2022 IEEE Chicago Section Outstanding Student Branch Award, led by chapter President Chloe Rubinowicz (EE, M.S. EE 5th Year), for its scientific contribution and service in the Chicago area. 

The branch’s faculty advisor, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Erdal Oruklu, was awarded the 2022 IEEE Chicago Section Outstanding Student Branch Advisor Award.

The Illinois Tech IEEE student chapter has more than 100 members who are constantly engaged in voluntary extracurricular activities including networking events, workshops, speaker series, and conferences. 

Oruklu is the faculty adviser for the IEEE student chapter, the Eta Kappa Nu Honor Society, and Cyberhawks. Eta Kappa Nu and Cyberhawks have also received numerous awards and recognitions under his supervision.

IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. The Chicago Section has the unique distinction as being the first American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE) section formed outside New York.
