Industrial Technology and Management Program to be Featured on ABC7’s Built to Last

Illinois Institute of Technology’s Industrial Technology and Management program (INTM) will be highlighted during an episode of Built to Last on Sunday, June 30, at noon on Chicago TV station WLS (ABC7).

ABC7 describes Built to Last as a “series of half-hour specials exploring the skill, training, and artistry of trade union members and contractors.” The series is currently airing its sixth season, and a segment of the eighth episode will focus on the opportunity for journeyman electricians with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 134 to obtain their bachelor’s degree in industrial technology and management at Illinois Tech with tuition support from the union.

Featured in the episode are Peter McElwee, current INTM student and IBEW Local 134 journeyman electrician; TJ Tyrrell, an IBEW Local 134 journeyman electrician who completed the co-terminal degree program at Illinois Tech and earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial technology and management and a master’s degree in industrial technology and operations in 2016; and Pamela Houser, program manager for Industrial Technology and Management. The episode includes footage of students in Illinois Tech classrooms and laboratories and at the IBEW-NECA Technical Institute, an apprenticeship training center in Alsip, Illinois.
