Inspiring Change Leadership Training

Date

On Oct. 24 and 25, Sonya Ballentine, project manager for Patrick Corrigan's research team, and Lindsay Sheehan, senior research associate, conducted a leadership training seminar for African Americans with lived experience of serious mental illness. Attendees learned leadership skills necessary to serve in leadership roles on community-based participatory research projects, including conflict management, meeting facilitation, and project management.  Graduates of the leadership training are eligible to partner with Illinois Tech researchers and submit funding proposals for pilot research projects focusing on eliminating health disparities for African Americans with serious mental illness. This project was funded through a PCORI engagement award.
