Date

Two Illinois Tech Industrial Technology and Management (INTM) faculty members were invited to speak at an APICS professional development meeting in Chicago in October. Dr. Gurram Gopal, Industry Professor, and Katherine W Olsen CPIM, CSCP, Adjunct Professor and Supply Chain Director, Castle Metals, discussed how to use the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) for inventory management.

Their presentation included examples from Castle Metals, a supplier of metal products, metal processing capabilities and customized supply chain solutions to a variety of industrial sectors in 20 locations throughout North America, Europe and Asia. They also cited work from an INTM Special Project, completed by INTM graduate student, Jaime Quilez Calleja at Castle Metals in 2017. Quilez was a student from Illinois Tech Europe/International Partners Program, working toward a master’s degree in Industrial Technology and Operations (MITO) in conjunction with a degree from his home university in Spain. Since graduation, he has gone on to work as Operations Area Manager for Amazon Spain in Madrid.
