INTM Graduate Special Project Leads to Article in APICS Spring '18 Magazine

Date

INTM Industry Professor, Dr. Gurram Gopal, Jaime Quilez (MITO ’17), and INTM Adjunct Professor and director of supply chain at Castle Metals, Kathy Olsen, have co-written an article-- "Inventory Stratification Optimizes Results,”-- that appears in the APICS Spring 2018 quarterly Magazine. The article is based on Quilez’ work at Castle Metals while completing his INTM graduate student project, “Multi-Criteria Inventory Stratification and Its Linkage to Optimization.” Quilez is currently Operations Area Manager for Amazon Spain, where he leads a team of more than 100 associates.

Quilez' report is one of several INTM Special Projects that have resulted in publication in industry related magazines and journals. Olsen, who has worked with several INTM students on their projects says,

"Working with the students in the INTM program is definitely one of the highlights of my career. They are bright, knowledgeable and driven to succeed. In addition to advising the students, I've also had several graduates work for my company and they are extremely well-regarded as high performing and dedicated associates."
