Date

The culmination of the spring semester’s Interprofessional Projects (IPRO) Program was held on IPRO Day on Friday, April 25. Seventy three teams exhibited their semester-long work throughout Hermann Hall.

The group IPRO 497-05D: Urban Heat Solutions was the winner of Track 9, Innovative Solutions to Urban Problems. The group consisted of James De La Cruz (BME), Juan Martinez (MMAE), Nicole Niewenhuis (BME), Kiara Soto (ARCH), Abla Soudy (ChBE), and Jean Valero (CAEE). This first year IPRO is a themed cluster based on Armour College’s Engineering Themes: water, health, energy, security. The IPRO is also led by the members of Armour College’s Distinctive Education Faculty Council.

IPRO 497-05 is focused on innovative solutions to urban problems by examining urban systems. During the Spring 2014 cluster projects focused on energy and sustainability. Students in this multi-team IPRO cluster examined the challenges posed by urban systems, proposed creative solutions to those challenges, and then formed teams focused on the research and development of prototype solutions.
