MMAE Student Selected for RISE Internship

Armour College of Engineering student Zhe Yi Soo (MMAE 3rd year) was selected for a Research Internships in Science & Engineering (RISE) internship at the University of Freiberg Institute of Thermal Engineering in Germany to work on the project, “Determination of Effective Thermal Conductivity of Open-Cell Ceramic Foams.”

RISE is a summer internship program for undergraduate students in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences and engineering. RISE offers unique opportunities for bachelor-level students to work with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany for a period of two to three months during the summer.

The application process is very competitive. RISE received more than 2,200 applications for 300 internships during Summer 2014. The 2015 RISE application cycle opens in early December 2014 with a deadline of January 31, 2015.
