Social Sciences Department welcomes visiting scholar Chunying Huang

Chunying Huang, Ph.D. Candidate in the Public Administration program at Northeastern University in Shenyang,China, will be joining Associate Professor of Political Science Matthew Shapiro for the 2014-15 year to advance research on national innovation systems and policy making related to environmental sustainability.

Ms. Huang’s interests in civic participation in environmental policy making in China offer an excellent complement to Dr. Shapiro’s work on Northeast Asian epistemic community building. Ms. Huang and Dr. Shapiro are planning to identify and catalog cross-national linkages between Chinese environmental groups and environmental groups especially in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan.

Ms. Huang has published several papers on these issues and has been engaged in this research agenda for the last five years. Her visiting researcher position was made possible through China Scholarship Council funding.
