Xin Chen Chairs Computational Transportation Science Workshop and GIS Contest; Named Guest Editor of GeoInformatica

Assistant Professor of Computer Science Xin Chen chaired the 7th International Workshop on Computational Transportation Science on November 4 in Dallas and delivered opening remarks on Automated Driving Cloud. Computational Transportation Science is the science behind Intelligent Transportation Systems.

Chen also served as co-chair of the 2014 ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Cup Contest on Map Generalization. Map generalization is used in many GIS and business mapping applications for creating maps with as few vertices as possible. The contest was co-located with ACM SIGSPATIAL (International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems) 2014 in Dallas and was sponsored by Microsoft and Nvidia.

Chen has also been appointed as a guest editor for a special issue of GeoInformatica on Computational Transportation Science.
