Using the Past to Forge a Future

When Erin Finn enrolled at Illinois Tech, she knew she wanted to continue her education in the medical field but was unsure in which area. After guidance from her adviser, Kathryn Spink, Finn researched podiatry and made the decision to pursue it further.

“I was a pre-professional ballet dancer with the Joffrey Ballet prior to pursuing my undergraduate degree,” Erin says. “Podiatry will allow me to apply my past experience in ballet to my future practice by caring for artists just as I was cared for.”

Finn says she was anxious about performing well in master’s-level courses when she came to Illinois Tech.

“Very early on, the faculty and professors made it clear that they were there to help me prepare for professional school,” Finn says. “With their support, I was able to exceed my own expectations and become a competitive applicant.”
