Program Overview

This master’s program in business analytics combines fundamental analytics training with a core M.B.A. curriculum that emphasizes technology and innovation. Develop your “big picture” business acumen, from leadership and decision-making to finance, marketing, and operations. Master essential analytical and quantitative skills in statistics, database management, predictive modeling, and machine learning that will enable you to optimize operational efficiency, grow new products and markets, and increase profits.

Our in-person courses are taught in the heart of Chicago’s global business center by faculty with extensive industry experience. Work while earning your M.B.A. Business Analytics, with courses on weekday evenings (6–8 p.m.) and Saturdays at our downtown campus, near Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Center.

This course focuses on the rigorous business process that combines analysis, strategy, and performance to guide you in developing and executing highly effective strategies. This course includes a strong experiential learning component.

MBA 505 Microeconomics and Game Theory
Economics is a way of thinking about problems, issues, and decisions that managers face in each of the functional areas of their organization. This course stresses the importance of incentives in human decision making and the consideration of costs and benefits. You’ll learn about a wide range of concepts—such as market structure, supply and demand models, trade, competition, and pricing—that shape the business environments in which organizations operate.  

MAX 522 Predictive Analytics
Companies capture and analyze large amounts of data about every aspect of their operations. From predicting customer behavior to determining the optimal maintenance schedule to keep the production line humming, predictive analytics is the key to transforming data into actionable business information. In MAX 522 you’ll learn skills for designing and retrieving information from databases, master leading data mining tools, and gain experience using Python to analyze datasets and make predictions utilizing machine-learning algorithms. Hands-on assignments and a group project mimic the types of projects you would do for an industry job.
