Computer Engineering (M.S.)

Illinois Tech’s Master of Science in Computer Engineering prepares students for advanced study, research, and industrial practice in the field of computer engineering. This program builds a strong foundation in all aspects of the design and development of computer systems, including a specialization within a major area.

Gain hands-on experience in the areas of computer hardware design, computer networking and telecommunications, and computer system and application software. Students also have the option to pursue thesis research under the guidance of a faculty adviser.

The Master of Science in Computer Engineering provides a strong foundation in computer hardware design, computer networking and telecommunications, and computer system and application software. Students select courses appropriate to their professional interests and goals with adviser approval.

This program of study includes two core and two elective courses within one of the computer engineering areas of concentration and at least one core course from each of the two remaining areas. Students also have the option to pursue thesis research under the guidance of a faculty adviser.

Students whose accredited bachelor’s degree is not in computer engineering may pursue this degree program provided they demonstrate proficiency as outlined in the course bulletin.
