More in Communication Across the Curriculum (CAC)

The Communication Across the Curriculum (CAC) program is a means for undergraduate students to learn and practice communication skills necessary for particular fields of study, both in school and beyond graduation from IIT. The promotion of effective writing and speaking skills is done through CAC's guidance in various opportunities at IIT:

  • The entrance essay
  • Intro to the Profession (ITP) courses
  • Writing Intensive Classes (C-Courses)
  • Interprofessional Projects (IPROs)
  • Writing and communication classes

Students can gain communication insights by way of instructional materials provided here on the CAC website, writing courses, or in-class presentations by CAC representatives. The CAC works to provide students with communication skills relevant to their interests and applicable in environments both inside and outside of academia.

The CAC also works with faculty to provide help with writing assignments in engineering and science courses including individual conferences and classroom visits.

IIT's Writing Center is an additional student resource for one-on-one tutoring sessions in Siegel Hall, rooms 232/233.
