Math and Science Help (MASH)

Math and Science Help (MASH) is part of the Academic Resource Center, and it provides support for undergraduate students through one-to-one peer tutoring and weekly group review sessions led by supplemental instructors for STEM courses.

MASH is designed to help students strengthen their technical understanding, improve problem-solving skills, and build effective study strategies that contribute to long-term academic success. Our services support students across disciplines, whether they’re reinforcing foundational concepts or preparing for exams.

All tutoring is free for our Illinois Tech community. Tutors are available for pre-scheduled appointments available Monday through Friday during the spring and fall semesters. Drop-ins are also welcome!

Frequently Asked Questions

Appointments can be made in advance online. MASH recommends that students schedule an appointment at least one hour in advance at the link above to ensure tutor availability and preparation. Drop-in services are also available.

To make an appointment:

  • Click the link above and sign in. If you do not have an account, register to create one
  • After signing in, click on Math and Science Help to view the full tutor schedule for the week ahead. Select an available slot at least one hour in advance
  • Complete the form providing all the required information. You can also upload relevant course materials or questions so your tutor can prepare effectively
  • Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive a confirmation email with the details
  • If you need to cancel your appointment, use the same system (click on your appointment, scroll down to the bottom, and click Cancel Appointment). To be respectful of tutors and fellow students, please avoid missing appointments without canceling in advance. After three no-shows (i.e. missing the meeting without canceling), your ability to schedule with MASH may be limited

MASH Help is located on the upper level of the Paul V. Galvin Library.
