Computer Science Student Participates in Illinois Cyber Aces State Championship

Date

Three students from IIT, including Master of Computer Science graduate student Mitch Wilkos, participated recently in Illinois's first Cyber Aces State Championship. The event was held on March 1 at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills. 125 participants, including students, veterans, and other job-seekers, competed using NetWars, an interactive learning environment for information security. Second place in the championship went to ITM student Eric Tendian, who will go on to the championship competition. All participants will be able to participate in an online National Cybersecurity Career Fair to be held in July.

The mission of the Cyber Aces foundation is to find and develop those with an aptitude for information security. In addition to competitions, it offers training camps and other educational initiatives. Ilinois's Cyber Aces competition was announced last year by Governor Pat Quinn.
