Arlen Moller, associate professor of psychology, was recently appointed to the editorial board of Translational Behavioral Medicine. In addition, he recently presented at a three-day workshop hosted by the Institute of Design and the University of Tromso in Norway on "Motivation in eHealth.” Moller will be chairing an upcoming symposium at the Society of Behavioral Medicine conference in Washington D.C. on "Theory-guided exergames.”

 

Mahima Saxena, assistant professor of psychology, and one of her undergraduate students, Alexis Renk, will be presenting their work on humanitarian work psychology at the Association for Psychological Science (APS) Annual Convention in May.

Ron Landis, Nambury S. Raju Professor of Psychology, and two industrial/organizational (I/O) psychology students, Georgia-Niki Papaioannou and Cassia Carter, will also present their work on intelligent tutors in training at the APS annual convention this May. In addition, a recent paper by Landis was accepted for publication: 

Mackay, M.M, Allen, J., & Landis, R.S. (in press). Investigating the incremental validity of employee engagement in the prediction of employee effectiveness: A meta-analytic path analysis. Human Resource Management Review.

NEWS

EJ Lee, associate professor of psychology, is featured in the latest issue of IIT Magazine.  The article, Citizen Scientists, discusses how Lee and Mahesh Krishnamurthy, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering,  use community-based participant research to incorporatee end users in the product design—and especially the redesign—process in order to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.

EVENTS

The Raju Speaker Series will take place on Wednesday, March 30 at 3:30 PM. This semester’s event will be a panel discussion related to the topic of “Improving Scientific Practices in Industrial and Organizational  Psychology.” Two distinguished scholars, Jeff Edwards, Ph.D. and Larry Williams, Ph.D, will discuss the rigor and quality of scientific research in I/O psychology, with particular emphasis on sophisticated quantitative methods. The discussion will be moderated by Ron Landis.
