Each week, the Illinois Tech Athletics Digest will look back at the week in Scarlet Hawks athletics and provide a brief glimpse at what is up next.  

Here’s a look at Scarlet Hawk athletics on December 22, 2025.  

Men’s Athletics

Illinois Tech’s men’s basketball team went 3-1 over the past week, including 1-1 in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play. The Scarlet Hawks beat Rockford University on December 10 in a NACC contest, followed by non-conference victories over Kalamazoo College and Albion College before falling to St. Norbert on December 16. In the win over Kalamazoo, Garrison Carter (BA 4th Year) recorded his 1,000th career point. For the week, Carter averaged 18.3 points per game and 10.8 rebounds per game, while fourth-year guard John Davis III led the team with19.5 points per game.  

Women’s Athletics

The Scarlet Hawks women’s basketball team went 0-2 on their winter break trip to California, falling to Pomona-Pitzer on December 14 and to Caltech on December 16. Chloe Churilla (AMAT 4th Year) paced the Scarlet Hawks on the trip, averaging 13 points per game and 9 rebounds per game.

Honors

Women’s soccer players Gabriella Baltes (BCHM 4th Year) and Kelly Hitchcock (ME ’24, M.S. 1st Year) were named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-America team for NCAA Division III women’s soccer. It was the second straight academic all-American selection for Baltes. In women's volleyball, Anna Elena Sofia Sebastio (AE 4th Year), Karla Trautmann Mendez (B.ARCH. 3rd Year), Victoria Aspurez (PSYC 3rd Year), and Brooke Rifkin (FIN 3rd Year) were each named 2025 CSC Academic All-District women’s volleyball team for NCAA Division III.

Scarlet Hawks of the Week

Men’s hoops player Davis III and Bryce Shoto (BA 2nd Year) were named the Scarlet Hawks of the Week for the week of December 8.
