Illinois Institute of Technology Rice Campus hosted a technical symposium organized by a regional Midwest Chapter of Health Physics Society on Saturday May 6th. Health physics is a profession that promotes the beneficial use of radiation while protecting workers and the public from potential hazards. The symposium was attended by nearly 50 such professionals who work in research, industry, hospitals and laboratories. Participants came from as far as Wisconsin and Missouri. The event was sponsored by a handful of local commercial vendors, and Illinois Tech Rice Campus provided the logistical support.

The symposium was well conducted and featured over ten prominent speakers. Dr. S.Y. Chen, Director of Illinois Tech's Master's of Health Physics Program, served as a host to the symposium. His presentation commemorated the program's 20th anniversary at Illinois Tech. The symposium was also attended by several current Illinois Tech health physics students and alumni.
