CHICAGO—April 29, 2026—Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois Tech) has been named a 2026 “Most Innovative Institution” in the inaugural 2026 Cure Innovation Index, a national benchmark assessing how effectively U.S. biomedical research institutions translate scientific discovery into real-world health impact. Illinois Tech ranked #11 among the Index’s top 20 “punching above their weight” institutions, a distinction recognizing translational research performance that exceeds expectations based on funding levels. The recognition highlights Illinois Tech’s ability to generate outsized impact through scientific excellence, entrepreneurial culture, industry engagement, and focused execution.
