Using Multifactor Authentication to Log In

Multifactor authentication (MFA) requires all users to take an additional step beyond entering their username and password when logging into Access Illinois Tech to verify their identity.

When you activated your account in Phase 1, you chose how you wanted to provide this multifactor authentication after you logged in to, selecting from three possible MFA options:

  1. The "Okta Verify" mobile app; and/or
  2. SMS authentication (text messaging); and/or
  3. Voice-call authentication

When you log into Access Illinois Tech, you will be prompted to verify your identity using one of the multifactor authentication methods that you Disable rich-text configured when you set up your account. If you selected more than one possible method, the system will default to the verification method you used most recently. You can adjust the way you verify your identity by clicking on the down arrow. (See image below.) Only verification methods you have already set up will be available to you until you add others.

If you have a smartphone, OTS strongly recommends using the Okta Verify app because it is the fastest method to securely verify your identity. We also recommend that you select at least two possible methods—the Okta Verify mobile app and one other option.
