You can prepare to pursue a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) with Illinois Tech’s Pre-Health/Pre-Med pathway.

Beyond receiving the prerequisite coursework, you’ll receive hands-on experience, personalized guidance, and assistance preparing for the MCAT and searching for medical schools.

You can prepare to pursue Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine with Illinois Tech’s Pre-Health/Pre-Med pathway.

Beyond receiving the prerequisite coursework,  hands-on experience, personalized guidance, and assistance preparing for the MCAT and searching for medical schools, Illinois Tech also offers two dual-admission programs: a 4+4 D.O. program with Midwestern University and a 4+4 D.O. program with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

No matter what area of psychology you are interested in pursuing, Illinois Tech’s Department of Psychology offers programs that help you understand how and why people do what they do, including cutting-edge research on topics such as attitudes toward people with disabilities, communication in social networks, depression, developmental issues, eating disorders and body image, leadership, organizational training, school-to-work transitions, social support, stigma, and more.

Beyond receiving the prerequisite coursework, hands-on experience, personalized guidance, and assistance preparing for the Optometry Admissions Test and searching for optometry schools, Illinois Tech also offers two dual-admission programs with the Illinois College of Optometry: 3+4 Early Admission (only for biology students) and a 4+4 early admission program.

You can prepare to pursue Doctor of Dental Medicine or Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) with Illinois Tech’s Pre-Health/Pre-Med pathway.

Beyond receiving the prerequisite coursework, hands-on experience, personalized guidance, and assistance preparing for the Dental Admission Test and searching for dentistry schools, Illinois Tech also offers a dual-admission program with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine: a 4+4 dual-admission program.

You can prepare to pursue Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) with Illinois Tech’s Pre-Health/Pre-Med pathway.

Beyond receiving the prerequisite coursework, hands-on experience, personalized guidance, and assistance preparing for the Pharmacy College Admissions Test and searching for pharmacy schools, Illinois Tech also offers three dual-admission programs: a 2+4 dual-admission program with Midwestern University and a 4+4 dual-admission and 4+3 dual-admission (for biology and chemistry students only) with Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Illinois Tech is partnering with Rush University—part of Rush University Medical Center, ranked among the top 20 hospitals in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report (2025)—to offer a 3+2 accelerated path to earn a bachelor’s degree from Illinois Tech and an M.S. in Medical Laboratory Science from the College of Health Sciences at Rush University.

The M.S. in Medical Laboratory Science prepares graduates to perform tests that aid in diagnosing and treating diseases. Through this program, students receive foundational science and general education instruction through Illinois Tech’s pre-professional curriculum, while Rush University delivers the specialized professional training for the master’s program.

Every student who chooses to be part of the Pre-Health/Pre-Med Pathway at Illinois Tech will declare an academic major that is based on their interests.

The Minor in Pre-Medical Studies is an additional option that ensures that students complete the prerequisites for entrance into their chosen professional school and for their first year at medical school.

Illinois Tech’s Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical program is offered for college graduates who want to change careers and pursue a medical education but lack the prerequisite coursework for their chosen health professional school.

Students receive the same expert guidance from the Pre-Medical Advisory Committee to help plan their program of study and to prepare your applications to medical school.

Students who wish to pursue additional training during and upon completion of their undergraduate studies can also pursue graduate programs at Illinois Tech that will enhance their understanding and prepare them more fully to pursue the professional health school of their choosing.
