Opportunities from the Very First Day on Campus
“I truly believe that the future belongs to those who are willing and able to capture technology-serving innovation in the world,” says Archit Singh, a first-year student at Illinois Tech who is majoring in business and information technology.
Archit chose Illinois Tech for its STEM-focused business degrees, alumni who are industry-leading innovators, and its Elevate initiative, which guarantees access to opportunities for hands-on experiences for students.
“The Elevate initiative has a big impact on my educational and career endeavors, as it is tailor-made for me as a student,” he says. “Industries want people with practical, real-life experiences. The career coach advises me on subjects related to my major and career goals to get a step ahead, help me get an internship, and build a strong path leading to my goals.”
The faculty at Illinois Tech emphasize deep analysis and projects in the courses they teach, says Archit, which challenges students. For example, one of his business courses included a case review in which every student had to present their business idea to the class as a pitch deck. The presentations were peer-reviewed and graded, helping the students improve their communication skills, as well as sharpening their analysis of the case.
“Illinois Tech is a university that changes you—academically, professionally, and personally,” Archit says. “It is a place where opportunities visit you from the very first day on campus. Above all, Illinois Tech equips you for the future.”
