Guaranteed Admission: Wright College

Illinois Tech offers guaranteed admission through our partnership with the City Colleges of Chicago for:

  • Students pursuing an associate in engineering science degree from City Colleges of Chicago-Wright College to advance their education at Illinois Tech's Armour College of Engineering
  • Students pursuing an associate in science degree for computer science from City Colleges of Chicago-Wright College to advance their education at Illinois Tech's College of Computing

Our joint partnership is a highly selective program that provides students with a seamless transition to continue their studies and obtain a bachelor’s degree in engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, or computer science from Illinois Tech—with the option of working toward a graduate degree.

Benefits

Earn Credits Toward Your Bachelor's Degree at a Discounted Rate

Take courses at both institutions concurrently, including gateway courses at Illinois Tech prior to transferring for a discounted rate of $100 per credit hour. To register for a course at Illinois Tech, submit a non-degree application and your official college transcripts for the appropriate enrollment term.

Guaranteed $25,000 City Colleges of Chicago Transfer Scholarship 

Illinois Tech will guarantee the offer of a special transfer scholarship of $25,000 (prorated for part-time students) to students who are successfully admitted to Illinois Tech through the guaranteed admission program. This scholarship will automatically remain in effect each year until the student completes their undergraduate degree. The scholarship will be applied on a prorated basis for any summer term or in any semester the student enrolls at part-time status. Students must maintain the minimum academic standards to continue receiving this award.

Dedicated Advisers and Mentors from Illinois Tech and Wright College

You'll receive individualized support from a transfer admission counselor from both schools who will guide you through the transfer process and help you plan out your course selection at Wright College and Illinois Tech. Additionally, you'll receive access to near-peer, academic, and career mentoring at both Illinois Tech and Wright College.

Application Process

To be eligible for the guaranteed admission program between Wright College and Illinois Tech, Wright College students must apply, be accepted, and complete the guaranteed admission program through City Colleges of Chicago-Wright College. 

Apply to the Pathway Program

Please contact Doris Espiritu at Wright College with any questions about how to join the Wright guaranteed admission program.

Once you are accepted into the pathway program at Wright College, you may register for pathway courses at Illinois Tech.

These courses are offered at a discounted rate of $100 per credit hour for all students in the GAP-Wright partnership and will count towards your bachelor's degree at Illinois Tech.

To enroll in a course at Illinois Tech, please follow these steps:

  1. Submit a non-degree application for the appropriate term
  2. Submit all unofficial college transcripts to ugaprocessing@iit.edu
  3. Contact Marie Kaye (mkaye@iit.edu) with any questions regarding your non-degree application

Once Illinois Tech receives your non-degree application, we will send you information on course registration and connect you with an Illinois Tech academic adviser.

Students will be eligible for guaranteed admission to Illinois Tech once they fulfill the following requirements at Wright College:
 
  1. Successfully complete an associate's degree within three years of the date of initial enrollment at Wright College, in addition to the courses outlined in the suggested sequence for the intended major at Illinois Tech.
  2. Students must earn a grade of B or higher in all math, physics, chemistry, computer science, and engineering courses taken at Wright College, a 3.0 graduation/cumulative grade-point average from Wright College, and at least a 3.0 GPA each semester they are enrolled.
  3. Once you have completed your associate's degree and all GAP requirements, submit a transfer application to Illinois Tech
 

If you attend Wright College and do not meet these requirements, we still encourage you to apply as you may be admissible through the regular admission process.
