Why did you choose your major/what do you want to do with your degree?

I chose biochemistry as my major because I love working in labs. Labs were definitely some of the highlights of any science-based classes I took in high school, and I wanted to continue with that in college. After I graduate, it's my goal to continue on to medical school with the long-term goal of becoming a doctor. My hope is that my background in biochemistry will be very useful for developing and studying medicine!

What is your favorite thing about the Camras Scholars Program?

My favorite thing about Camras has been the opportunity for personal and professional development via pillar projects. I think the pillar projects are such a beneficial outlet for anyone at IIT with the hope of making a difference on campus!

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

I hope to see myself as an anesthesiologist who's an attending physician at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County where I can give back to my home town at the same hospital that's been serving my community before I was born.

How do you think you best represent what it means to be a Camas Scholar?

In my senior year of high school, I was the president of our Student Council. There were many projects our team was proud of, but my personal favorite achievement was our ability to raise over $6,000 to install new carpets throughout our school.
