Commencement RSVP for Faculty Marshals
Illinois Tech’s annual Commencement ceremony is a time for faculty to celebrate the accomplishments of Illinois Tech students. Faculty not only educate, but also inspire our students—both during our students’ time at the university and throughout their lives.
Faculty will be celebrating the accomplishments of our students by serving as faculty marshals during their respective college ceremony. Faculty marshals will be seated with the students on the floor to lead students to the stage, unless they have a speaking role, in which case they will be seated on the stage.
Faculty marshals can fill out the RSVP form by March 31 to confirm attendance and rent regalia, if needed.
Commencement Day Instructions
Robing
All faculty marshals should report for robing at Credit Union 1 Arena on Saturday, May 16. For the first college ceremony, check-in will be from 7–8 a.m. For the second college ceremony, check-in will be from noon–1 p.m.
Note: You must pick up your robe prior to attending your college Ceremony from your department’s college planner. Regalia will not be available on site.
At the conclusion of each ceremony, faculty marshals must return any rented regalia backstage prior to departing the venue.
Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony
The Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony will take place on Friday, May 15 at Hermann Hall’s McCormick Auditorium beginning at 10 a.m. The Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony will take place on Friday, May 15 at 10:30 a.m. in Hermann Hall’s McCormick Auditorium. For any questions regarding Ph.D. hooding, please contact Jonathan Harmon at jharmon4@illinoistech.edu.
Faculty attending the Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony will need to pick up their regalia from their department’s college planner. It will be the faculty’s responsibility to bring their regalia to Credit Union 1 Area for the Saturday ceremonies.
