For Graduates

The 2023–2024 Illinois Tech Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Credit Union 1 Arena, located at 525 South Racine Avenue in Chicago. The Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony will take place Friday, May 10 in the McCormick Auditorium in Hermann Hall on Mies Campus.

Student Day of Event Instructions

COLLEGE CEREMONIES

All bachelor’s, graduate, and Ph.D. students will attend Commencement ceremonies based on their college affiliation at either 9 a.m. or 2 p.m. at Credit Union 1 Arena. For more information, please see the Event Details and Schedules page.

Ph.D HOODING CEREMONY

All Ph.D. graduates will be hooded in a separate ceremony on Friday, May 10 in Hermann Hall’s McCormick Auditorium on Mies Campus beginning at 3:30 p.m. For more information, please see the Event Details and Schedules page.

Applying for Graduation

All students must submit an Application for Graduation. For more information on your Graduation Application please visit the Undergraduate Academic Affairs or Graduate Academic Affairs websites.

If your application deadline has passed, consideration for Graduation Application will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Please contact either Undergraduate Academic Affairs (ugaa@iit.edu) or the Graduate College (gradcoll@iit.edu) based on your degree, for more information.

Graduate Salute

If you are participating in Commencement on Saturday, May 11, you were invited to attend Graduate Salute on April 23 on Mies Campus. At this required event, students will receive access to their electronic tickets.

Please note: Ordering regalia and guest tickets will take place solely online. However, it is required that you attend Graduate Salute to receive access to your electronic tickets. If you cannot attend Graduate Salute, contact your college ceremony planner after completion of the Career Services survey, to coordinate receiving your electronic tickets.

International Students

Invitation letters issued by Illinois Tech are not required by the United States Embassy or consulate to issue a B-2 tourist visa. If you have family or friends that would like to visit you in the U.S., you may provide them with your own invitation letter. The letter should include your name, identify the person you are inviting, their relationship to you, and state the duration and purpose of the trip.
