The Department of Information Technology and Management has two partner centers where ITM faculty and students come together to embody the program's hands-on, reality-based approach to education, all while aiming to solve real-world problems.
These centers serve two distinct areas that are fundamental to the ITM community—cybersecurity and smart tech.
Associated Centers
The SmartLab is a collaborative space where students, faculty, and lab partners interact to solve technical issues related to deploying smart technologies and embedded systems. The lab is also used for classroom instruction, in addition to portions of the information technology and management program's specializations requirements.
The Center for Cybersecurity and Forensics Education (C²SAFE) is a multidisciplinary center that develops, promotes, and supports education and research in cybersecurity technologies and management, information assurance, and digital forensics across all academic disciplines at Illinois Institute of Technology.
C²SAFE engages with business and industry, government, professional associations, and community colleges to enhance knowledge, awareness, and education in cybersecurity and digital forensics and to improve practices in information assurance.
The center also maintains resources for education and research in cybersecurity and digital forensics; publishes student and faculty research in the field; and sponsors, organizes, and conducts conferences, training, and other events to promote and advance cybersecurity and forensics education.
