Expectations for Illinois Tech Faculty

While accessibility is a university-wide effort, faculty and instructors as educators have an important professional responsibility to create accessible course content, follow accessibility best practices, and respond to accommodation needs. Digital course materials created or shared by faculty include course materials delivered via Canvas such as Word documents, PDFs, PowerPoint slides, video and audio content like lectures and tutorials. For example, it is essential to focus on foundational aspects of digital accessibility—such as proper headings, alternative text for informative visuals, clear structure of content, and use of accessible tools—for their learning content and activities.
