College of Computing
Step into the Future of Computing
Located within Chicago’s leading tech-focused university, Illinois Tech’s College of Computing is on the precipice of today’s fast-growing fields of computation, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data science. Our alumni have shaped the future of global wireless computer networks, security systems, and machine learning capabilities, and our students and faculty continue to set the bar when it comes to improving technology for all.
The College of Computing connects students with the city’s growing tech sector, providing them with ample access to experiential learning and career opportunities that prepare them to lead and innovate in these cutting-edge fields. Research is at the heart of the College of Computing’s curricula, with seven research centers housed within the college itself. Our faculty is composed of academic leaders, industry experts, and research pioneers—some from Argonne National Laboratory with joint appointments at Illinois Tech—who engage students in their cutting edge research, and encourage them to conduct their own.
The college’s Center for Cybersecurity and Forensics Education (C2SAFE) is a collaborative environment where business, government, academia, and security professionals intersect to work on projects, conduct research, educate, and train to advance the field of cybersecurity and forensics. Through the work of C2SAFE, Illinois Tech is designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Security Agency.
With both undergraduate and graduate computer science programs ranked among the Top 100 in the U.S. (U.S. News & World Report 2024), the College of Computing offers students an industry-aligned, research-oriented education that lays the foundation for successful careers in the tech industry.
