Faculty Member Receives AIChE International Honor

Hamid Arastoopour (M.S. GE ’75, Ph.D. ’78), Henry R. Linden Professor of Engineering and director of the Wanger Institute for Sustainable Energy Research (WISER), was honored with the AIChE (American Institute of Chemical Engineers) Sustainable Engineering Forum Research Award for 2018. Arastoopour was recognized for his “pioneering research and educational initiatives” that include his work in carbon capture and wind energy, new product development in recycled polymers and rubber, the establishment of WISER, and publication of a children’s book on sustainability.

As part of the award proceedings, Arastoopour will present a plenary lecture at the AIChE Annual Meeting to be held in October in Pittsburgh.
