Date

Chicago, IL, Aug. 23, 2013 — Stuart School of Business at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT Stuart) has announced new concentration areas in its Master of Business Administration(M.B.A.) program starting for the fall 2013 semester.

New concentrations in Technopreneurship, Technology and Marketing, Strategy and Leadership, Management of Non-Profits, Management of Public Sector, Emerging Markets, and China Studies, among others, complement existing concentrations in Finance, Innovation, Sustainability, Marketing, and Analytics. A total of 14 M.B.A. concentration areas allow students to customize their business and professional education and develop the industry-specific skills they need to succeed in the next economy.

“The new concentrations reflect a growing need for career professionals with a depth of knowledge in these areas,” says M. Krishna Erramilli, Interim Associate Dean, Professor and Director of IIT Stuart’s graduate business programs. “Our programs emphasize a breadth of business fundamentals, and through expert faculty, project courses, and interdisciplinary partnerships, our students also develop focused expertise in areas that will have a significant impact on their careers.”

IIT Stuart’s M.B.A. program consists of 16 courses, of which 11 are core business courses and five are concentration or elective courses. Most concentrations are two courses, allowing students to earn up to two concentrations. Concentrations in finance require a sequence of four courses, allowing for in-depth knowledge of Corporate Finance, Risk Management, or Investment Management. The M.B.A. degree can be completed part-time or full-time, with convenient evening classes for professionals who wish to earn their degree while working.

In addition, dual-degree programs can significantly reduce the number of courses required to earn both an M.B.A. and a second graduate degree. The M.B.A. can be earned in coordination with: Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.); Master of Science in Environmental Management and Sustainability, Finance, or Marketing Analytics and Communication; Juris Doctorate (in partnership with IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law); or Master of Design (in partnership with IIT Institute of Design).
