Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)

LDAP, the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, is an open, vendor-neutral, industry-standard application protocol for accessing and maintaining distributed directory information services.  Illinois Tech uses LDAP as part of the single sign-on to allow passwords to be shared among multiple applications.

During 2020, the university will be shifting LDAP to Active Directory (AD) as the sole source for managing IL Tech's users, computer access, and more.
