All degree-seeking applicants—except those eligible for the GRE waiver—are required to submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. Most Illinois Tech Stuart School of Business programs accept either the GRE or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
GRE and GMAT scores are considered valid for five years from the testing date. If your scores are more than five years old at the time your application is reviewed, new scores will be required.
The GRE requirement is waived for applicants to professional master's degree programs (architecture programs are not included) who hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the United States with a cumulative undergraduate grade-point average of 3.0/4.0 or higher. Applicants applying to Stuart School of Business master's degree programs must have five or more years of work experience to qualify for a GRE/GMAT waiver; the faculty will make the decision on the GRE waiver upon reviewing an applicant's résumé and transcripts.
If you believe you meet this qualification, you must contact the Office of Graduate Admission to request this waiver. Once you have uploaded your official undergraduate transcripts (and résumé for business programs) for verification, we will review your request. After you submit an application, you will see the test score requirement in your Application Tracker as "waived" if you received the waiver.
The chart below shows the minimum scores required for admission consideration. GRE requirements are subject to change, so please reference the graduate bulletin or your academic department's website for the most up-to-date information.
If your scores do not meet these minimum requirements, we encourage you to consider retaking the exam.
