Courses

The Center for the Study of Ethics in the Professions (CSEP) promotes innovative teaching. Our faculty teaches professional ethics courses at Illinois Tech in the areas of architecture, business, engineering, and industrial culture and assists faculty at other universities to prepare for teaching professional ethics, and to develop courses and programs.

Ethics Modules

The ethics center is currently working with Illinois Tech faculty in various departments to develop ethics modules that can be integrated into existing course syllabi and cover various topics, including research ethics, professional ethics, and the ethics of emerging technologies. If you are interested in collaborating with the center’s staff in developing a module, please contact us.

Ethics Across the Curriculum

CSEP’s Ethics Across the Curriculum project, supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation, prepares instructors to integrate ethics into ordinary courses. The project included workshops for Illinois Tech faculty, professional society representatives concerned with continuing education, and faculty from other institutions. Much of the material presented in the workshops and activities developed by workshop participants are available online.

Ethics Bowl

Developed at Illinois Tech in 1993, the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl (IEB) combines the excitement and fun of a competitive tournament with a valuable educational experience for undergraduate students. Learn more about Illinois Tech’s Ethics Bowl team and a full description of the rules and educational significance of the event.
