Using Proctoring Tools for Exams

Using Respondus Lockdown Browser for Exams

Respondus LockDown Browser is a custom web browser that locks down the testing environment within Blackboard. After a one-time download, the Respondus LockDown Browser will launch directly from Blackboard. When students use Respondus LockDown Browser, they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications (unless the instructor has allowed these functions when setting up the exam in Blackboard). When an assessment is started, students are locked into it until they submit it for grading.

For local students who do not have access to a computer or a webcam, the Galvin Library has laptops and webcams available for check out. Please contact them (library@iit.edu, 312-567-3616) for details.

Chromebooks: Unfortunately, there is not a version of the Respondus Lockdown Browser that is compatible with Chromebooks.  Borrow a laptop from the Galvin Library if necessary.
